BIRCHBOX Limited Edition "Under the Sun" Box

Periodically,  Birchbox offers Limited Edition specially curated boxes, which are available for purchase in addition to their monthly $10 subscription box. The great part about this box is they show you what's in it (colors may vary slightly).  Overall though, you know what you're getting and if it's worth the price to you!  When I saw what this box contained, I had to have it!  (I was going to buy a bronzer anyway).

Cost:  $55.00  (I used coupon code "welcomeback20" to get 20% off, so I purchased this box for $44).  Who-hoo!!

**Also, if you spend $35, don't forget to add your free sample pack.**  You'll receive one deluxe and one standard sample of mystery items Birchbox is excited about right now.  (Just search "Mystery Sample Pack" on their website and add it to your cart prior to checkout.  Unfortunately, I forgot to add it to mine since it was my first time ordering from the site, but I'll make sure to next time).

The Products:
Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour (RV $24)
Supergoop Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen (RV $12.40)
Cynthia Rowley Beauty on the Go Multi Blush & Bronzer Duo (RV $24)
NCLA Swim Club Nail Polish (RV $16)
Sugarpova Flirty Gummies (RV $5)
Knockaround Sunglasses (RV $14.60)
Baggu Bag (RV $9)
Chloe + Isabel Birchbox Exclusive Medina Convertible Pendant Necklace (RV $38)

RETAIL VALUE =  $143.00

The Breakdown:

Supergoop Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen (RV $12.40) - I have a fair complexion, so I can never have enough sun screen!  This one is SPF 40, which is great for me!  For some reason I thought the tube they sent would be bigger than it was.  For $12.40, it seems pricey for the size you get.  I've heard it's a good brand though, so I'll definitely try it out.

NCLA Swim Club Nail Polish (RV $16) - I have a lot of nail polish already from my OPI obsession and my Julep Maven subscription, but surprisingly, not one this shade.  The color is called "Bikinis and Martinis".  It's a pretty pastel peach color.  It's very pretty for summer!

Baggu Bag (RV $9) - I received a Baggu Bag when I first signed up for the PopSugar Must Have box.  These bags are well-made and a great concept.  I just always forgot to bring them to the grocery store.  Maybe I'll stow this one in my purse though to save on shopping bags.  The elephant design is cute and if all else fails, I'll use it to take my lunch back and forth to work.

(These are the two versions of the Baggu bags for this box that were available).

Sugarpova Flirty Gummies (RV $5) - I am always down for candy!  I've heard this brand is yummy, so I was excited to try them and they were DELICIOUS!  I literally ate them while I was opening the make-up from this box.  :)

Cynthia Rowley Beauty on the Go Multi Blush & Bronzer Duo (RV $24) - As I mentioned above, I was looking for a good bronzer.  Cynthia Rowley is another quality name brand product that I've been wanting to try.  The colors appear really bold, but they go on smoothly and have a more subtle tint to them.  (I just need to practice a bit putting liquid blush on since I'm used to powder).

Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour (RV $24) - Laura Mercier is a really good brand of eyeshadow from what I've always heard and I've always wanted to try it.  The shade they sent is called "Cameo" (the shade on the left in the photo below).  It's a versatile matte tan color that makes a good base for layering shadows.  My only complaint is that I got a tan when I went to the beach a few weeks ago and the color pretty much blends in with my skin tone right now.  Once the tan fades though, it will show up more.  There were two shades options available they would send.  I would've preferred to receive the darker shade instead.

Knockaround Sunglasses (RV $14.60) - I literally have a little basket of sunglasses on my living room table.  I've been known to lose or break them though every few months, so I can always use another pair.  Plus, I like to match them with my outfits so I can use them as indoor headbands if my hair gets in my face!  The light charcoal color is really pretty and I love the orange tint on the lenses.  They're REALLY lightweight!  The only drawback is that they're so light weight, they seem a bit flimsy to me.  (I did wear them to run errands this morning though and they did good headband duty while I was in stores).  I'll definitely keep them in the little case they came in when I put these in my purse.

Last but not least - Chloe + Isabel Birchbox Exclusive Medina Convertible Pendant Necklace (RV $38) - I love the layered necklace look!  (As a former Lia Sophia consultant, I was taught to layer, layer, layer).  This necklace set along with the bronzer is what convinced me to order this box when I first saw what was in it.  I love this necklace in person!  It's a beautiful antique gold color and the turquoise colored stone is an eye catcher.  I'll definitely wear this a lot!

VERDICT:  To me, the value of this box was amazing!  I paid $44 for $143 of merchandise.  Most subscription boxes don't even come close to this value!  I will wear the necklace and sunglasses a lot!!  Loved the candy and the blush & bronzer set too!  The nail polish, eye shadow shade, and the Baggu bag didn't thrill me, but I'll still use them all.  I definitely feel like I got my money's worth in this box and am excited to see what future Limited Edition boxes they come out with!

What do you think?  Have you tried any of the Birchbox Limited Edition boxes before?

XOXO,
Stephanie

  1. Good call keeping the shopping bag in your purse! I always bring my own little folding shopping bags with me, I'm kind of known for it now! No need to bring new plastic bags home, though :o)
